Vacancy – Quarry Operative

We have a vacancy for a Quarry Operative at our Shire Hill Quarry in Glossop to assist the Quarry Manager in all day-to-day operations of the site. Shire Hill is a Millstone Grit that is primarily quarried for block stone and also crushed and screened to produce aggregates.
 
The successful candidate must have the necessary skills, qualifications and work ethic to fulfil the requirements of the role. Previous experience in a similar position is advantageous.
 
This is a practical, hands-on role that combines the daily operation of mobile plant and equipment, including routine inspections and maintenance to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the quarry. This also includes the use of paper and IT systems.
 
Key responsibilities include
·        Ensuring you work safely within the quarry and comply with all SHE requirements
·        Working to Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work
·        Maintaining all mobile plant to a high standard
·        Extraction, production and loading of materials including block stone and aggregates
·        Operation of weighbridge
·        Completion of all statutory Inspections
·        Assisting with Contract Crushing campaigns
·        Induction and management of Contractors and Visitors
·        Upkeep and maintenance of buildings and welfare facilities
·        Use of the company systems to manage Health, Safety and Environmental risks including maintenance of ISO 45001, 14001, 9001 standards
 
 
Requirements and Qualifications
·        Licences to operate >10T Excavator and Wheeled Loading Shovel are essential
·        SHE NVQ/QCF level appropriate to your position would be advantageous
·        Strong communication and teamwork skills
·        Evidence of previous experience
